S O L O I S T S

Category BABY
- Performers younger than the age of 9 on the beginning day of the competition.
- Programme of free choice, maximum duration 3 minutes.

Categories A
A1 – Performers on Standard Bass accordion, younger than the age of 11 on the beginning day of the competition.
- Programme of free choice, duration 3 – 5 minutes.
A2 – Performers on Free Bass accordion, younger than the age of 11 on the beginning day of the competition.
- Programme of free choice, duration 3 – 5 minutes.

Categories B
B1 - Performers on Standard Bass accordion, younger than the age of 13 on the beginning day of the competition.
- Programme of free choice, duration 5 – 8 minutes.
B2 - Performers on Free Bass accordion, younger than the age of 13 on the beginning day of the competition.
- Programme of free choice, duration 5 – 8 minutes.

Categories C
C1 - Performers on Standard Bass accordion, younger than the age of 15 on the beginning day of the competition.
- Programme of free choice, duration 8 -12 minutes.
C2 - Performers on Free Bass accordion, younger than the age of 15 on the beginning day of the competition.
- Programme of free choice, duration 8 -12 minutes.

In categories A1, B1, and C1 complete programme must be performed on Standard Bass.
In categories A2, B2, and C2 part of the programme may be performed on Standard Bass.

Every competitor in categories BABY, A, B and C must submit 3 copies of the scores prior to the performance. One copy will be kept by the archive of the Organization, other copies will be returned.

Category D(1 Round)

Performers younger than the age of 17 on the beginning day of the competition.
- Programme of free choice, duration 12 – 17 minutes.

Programme must contain:

- Composition written before the year 1800.
- Original composition for accordion

Category E(1 Round)

Performers younger than the age of 19 on the beginning day of the competition.
- Programme of free choice, duration 17 – 22 minutes.

Programme must contain:

- Composition written before the year 1800.
- Original composition for accordion

Category F(1 Round)

Performers without age limit.
- Programme of free choice, duration 22 - 27 minutes

Programme must contain:

- Composition written before the year 1800.
- Original composition for accordion

Every competitor in categories D, E and F must submit 5 copies of the scores prior to the performance. One copy will be kept by the archive of the Organization, other copies will be returned.

Category KONCERTIST (concert performer)  (2 Rounds)
- Performers without age limit.
1st Round 
- J. S. Bach: one Prelude and Fugue from the “Well -Tempered Clavier”, Book I or II.
- Programme of free choice in maximum duration of 15 minutes.

Free choice programme must contain original composition for accordion. If the chosen original composition for accordion is a cyclic work (sonata, suite...) it must be performed complete. It is not allowed to play selected movements. 
Please note: At least 50% +1 competitor of the 1^st round contestants is admitted in the 2^nd round.
2nd Round 

- Programme of free choice, duration 20-30 minutes.

Free choice programme must contain compositions from at least two different style periods.

*Every competitor in category KONCERTIST must submit 7 copies of the scores prior to the performance. One copy will be kept by the archive of the Organization, other copies will be returned.

C H A M B E R    E N S E M B L E S

Category A

Performers younger than the age of 16 on the beginning day of the competition.

1. Programme of free choice, duration 7 - 10 minutes.

- Free choice Programme may contain original pieces for ensemble that has applied on the competition (ex. accordion duo; accordion trio; accordion, cello and violin; accordion, flute and clarinet; accordion and cello, etc.) or arrangements (transcriptions).

2. Chamber ensemble must have only one instrument per part (e.g. score of 6 parts = 6 instruments).

3. It is not allowed to use amplified instruments.

4. Orchestral works are not accepted.

5. Pieces originally composed for a solo instrument or voice with an „accompaniment“ (in the right sense) of an orchestra or another instrument are also not accepted.

Category B
Performers younger than the age of 20 on the beginning day of the competition.
1. Programme of free choice, duration 10 - 15 minutes.

    - At least 50% of the programme must be chosen from the original literature for the chamber ensemble that applies for the competition (accordion duo; accordion trio; accordion and cello; accordion, violin and cello; accordion, flute and clarinet; etc.)

    - The rest of the programme may contain arrangements and adaptations.

2. Chamber ensemble must have only one instrument per part (e.g. score of 6 parts = 6 instruments).

3. It is not allowed to use amplified instruments.

4. Orchestral works are not accepted.

5. Pieces originally composed for a solo instrument or voice with an „accompaniment“ (in the right sense) of an orchestra or another instrument are also not accepted.

Category C
Performers without age limit. 
1. Programme of free choice, duration 20 - 25 minutes.

    - At least 50% of the programme must be chosen from the original literature for the chamber ensemble that applies for the competition (accordion duo; accordion trio; accordion and cello; accordion, violin and cello; accordion, flute and clarinet; etc.)

    - The rest of the programme may contain arrangements and adaptations.

2. Chamber ensemble must have only one instrument per part (e.g. score of 6 parts = 6 instruments).

3. It is not allowed to use amplified instruments.

4. Orchestral works are not accepted.

5. Pieces originally composed for a solo instrument or voice with an „accompaniment“ (in the right sense) of an orchestra or another instrument are also not accepted.
 

In all categories there is no limit in including other instruments, but accordion must be involved.

Every chamber ensemble must submit 7 copies of the scores prior to performance. One copy will be kept by the archive of the Organization, other copies will be returned.

O R C H E S T R A S

Category A
Members of the orchestra younger than 16 years of age on the beginning day of the competition.
- If soloists are included they also must be younger than 16 years of age on the beginning day of the competition.
- Programme of free choice, duration 7 - 10 minutes.

Category B
Members of the orchestra younger than 20 years of age on the beginning day of the competition.
- If soloists are included they also must be younger than 20 years of age on the beginning day of the competition.

- Programme of free choice, duration 10 - 15 minutes.

Category C
Members of the orchestra without age limit.
- Programme of free choice, duration 20 - 25 minutes.

Category D
Members of the orchestra without age limit.
- Programme of free choice made of compositions of different musical genres like: pop, rock, jazz, ethno, entertaining or film music. Duration 10 - 20 minutes.

The orchestra should have at least 13 members from which at least half of the members must play accordion. Other instruments of any kind may also be included. Compositions for any solo instrument or voice accompanied by accordion orchestra are allowed in the programme.

For the orchestras in categories A and B players of the bass line (bass accordion, double bass or other) and percussionists can be older than the age limit. 

Prior to performance every orchestra director or conductor must submit 7 copies of the scores as well as the floor plan of the orchestra. One copy will be kept by the archive of the Organization, other copies will be returned.

EVALUATION

Every jury member evaluates every candidate with a score from 50 to 100 points.
The highest and the lowest score will be brought closer to the next highest and lowest score to the three points distance.

The sum of all scores given by the jury members divided by the number of members, gives the final score of the competitor’s performed program.
The final score is presented with a number with two decimals, without rounding.
By the announcement of the results scores of all jury members will be listed.

Jury members will not evaluate competitors to whom they are teachers or to whom they are related.
Coordination and exchange of opinions / evaluations between Jury members about the competitor is not allowed before they submit in the filled forms with the scores.  

In the category KONCERTIST after the first round of the competition on the notice board will be listed the competitors who proceed to the second round of the competition by the order of appearance.

After the second round of the competition on the notice board it will be listed:
- Results with all competitors points from the 1st Round,
- Results with all competitors points from the 2nd  Round
- Results of all the competitors with their final score, which total is found by adding the points of Round I and II divided by two.

Competition results will be published after the verification by the signature of the President of the Jury and the President of the Expert Committee of the Competition.

Prizes will be awarded as follows:
 90.00 to 100.00  points     I. prize
 80.00 to 89.99    points    II. prize
 70.00 to 79.99    points   III. prize
      

In all categories ex-aequo is not permitted within the first three places.

In determining the winner of the Cup of Pula in the case that more competitors have the same number of points, the Cup of Pula will be awarded to the competitor from the older category.

GENERAL RULES
 
The Organizer may decide to grant other special prizes.

The contestants accept to take part or to perform in television or radio shows during the competition on request of the organizers and without a fee. In case of audio or video recording of the competition the contestants cannot request a fee from the organizer. 

The Registration fee will not be refunded if the contestant doesn't participate in the competition.

Applying on the competition all the contestants accept the Regulations and thus confirm the authenticity of the data provided in the Registration form.

The Organizer declines all liability for accidents of any kind sustained by competitors, professors, guests or any person in the premises where the competition takes place,also the organizer disclaims any liability from damage or theft of their property.

In case of ambiguity of interpretation, the Croatian version of the text is valid.
